A Celebration of Nostalgia and Skill
Hagerty has just kicked off an exciting new YouTube series, the "RADwood Build Challenge," transforming three iconic vehicles from the '80s and '90s into modern masterpieces. Debuting on September 24, this series takes the audience on a thrilling journey reflecting on a bygone era while involving car enthusiasts in a live voting finale at the RADwood event on October 24.
Meet the Builders and Their Rides
This first season features the talents of three remarkable builders: Mike Burroughs with his 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo, Vin Anatra showcasing a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado Dually, and Larry Chen customizing his 1996 Honda Accord Si-R. Each builds not only highlights their knowledge and creativity but also renews appreciation for these classic rides that once ruled the streets.
The Thrill of Competition
The culmination of this series will be the in-person finale at RADwood, drawing crowds eager to support their favorite builder. Attendees will not only witness automotive craftsmanship but also participate in an impactful voting process where the winner will receive $50,000 and contribute an equivalent donation to a charity they support. The feedback from the audience gives real-world stakes to this friendly competition, making it all the more engaging.
Support Worthy Causes
The RADwood Build Challenge also embraces community spirit. The winning builder can choose to support one of three charitable organizations: Folds of Honor, the RPM Foundation, or McPherson College—each linked to significant causes from military support to automotive restoration education. This aspect not only promotes car culture but also gives back to the community.
