Shawn Langdon Leads the Pack at NHRA Las Vegas Nationals
LAS VEGAS, NV – October 31, 2026 – The excitement is palpable at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as Top Fuel points leader Shawn Langdon claimed the provisional No. 1 spot in the opening rounds of the MOPAR NHRA Las Vegas Nationals. Known for his remarkable skill behind the wheel, Langdon clocked an impressive 3.672-second run at 332.59 mph, which puts him in position for a thrilling race weekend. This marks an important moment as he vies for his second world championship, leading teammate Doug Kalitta by 144 points.
Setting the Stage for Championship Glory
With the potential to secure his ninth No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 31st of his career, Langdon's performance was supported by formidable conditions, thanks to a bit of moisture that influenced his approach. “The track’s good, so you just have to get the power level right and then get the clutch right for the track,” he noted, highlighting the fine balance needed for optimal performance.
Impressive Runs Across Classes
Langdon wasn't alone in shining bright under the Vegas lights. Fellow competitors provided a show of speed and skill as well. Jack Beckman, piloting a Funny Car, also captured the provisional No. 1 position with a startling run of 3.836 seconds, aiming for his fifth top qualifier of the year. Beckman thrives in these competitive environments, reacting swiftly to changing conditions, and his current goal remains clear: “Our aim is to win two races and finish strong,” he stated.
