Van Horn Law Group's Commitment to Pro Bono Law Initiatives
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—In a significant boost for legal education and public service, the Van Horn Law Group, P.A., a Fort Lauderdale-based firm specializing in bankruptcy law, has reaffirmed its dedication to the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Shepard Broad College of Law with a generous $50,000 donation. This new funding doubles the firm’s total commitment to $100,000 since the Pro Bono Honor was established in 2022.
The Impact of Pro Bono Recognition
This commitment is more than just a financial contribution; it symbolizes a deep-rooted belief in the importance of legal service. The funds will directly support the Van Horn Law Group Endowed Pro Bono Honor Fund and enhance public-interest law programs, thus encouraging future lawyers to engage in pro bono work. As a proud alumnus of NSU’s Shepard Broad College of Law, Chad Van Horn, Esq., promotes a culture of community service and social responsibility among law students.
Encouraging Future Legal Leaders Through Service
The Van Horn Law Group’s initiative recognizes students who complete a minimum of 50 hours of pro bono legal service with the Van Horn Pro Bono Honor. Since its inception, the honor has celebrated 258 graduates for their collective contributions of 42,414 pro bono hours, including a remarkable 11,192 hours logged by 61 graduates just during the 2025-2026 academic year. These numbers reflect a thriving culture of helping others within the legal community.
Moving Forward: A Lasting Legacy
The renewed commitment extends the Pro Bono Honor for five more years, from July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2032. This sustained investment not only highlights the importance of pro bono work but also encourages a new generation of attorneys to prioritize social justice in their careers. Legal knowledge is powerful, and the Van Horn Law Group believes every lawyer has a role to play in ensuring access to justice.
